Darren Spooner has a Master of Clinical Psychology Degree (2000) and the British Psychological Society Statement of Equivalence in Clinical Psychology (2000). He is an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society, a Chartered Member of the British Psychological Society (No. 99006) and a HCPC Registered Practitioner Psychologist (No. PYL20647).
He was clinical director of the St Giles Clinic in Norwich from 2003 to 2018, an all-ages, multidisciplinary psychological therapies service. This consisted of the management and delivery of psychological assessments and therapies by a team of practitioners (clinical psychologists, cognitive behaviour therapists and psychotherapists), and the provision of expert witness reports in both child protection and private family law, personal injury, employment tribunal and offending.
From 1999 to 2003 he worked in adult mental health with Norfolk Mental Health Care NHS Trust. He has almost 20 years’ experience in the assessment and treatment of personality disorder, trauma, neurosis and attachment trauma as well as conducting in excess of 2,000 expert witness assessments of children, adults and families.
Darren has presented training on parental alienation (PA) to Family Justice Boards and tailored consultancy to individuals and groups in Children’s Services, CAFCASS and allied services such as supervised contact centres. He was an invited speaker at a landmark legal and mental health conference on parental alienation (PA) in London in August 2018.
